DO I NEED TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?
Yes, an appointment is necessary and imperative as we privatize the showroom for each bride. This allows us to offer you a unique and privileged moment with your loved ones.
HOW DO I BOOK A FITTING APPOINTMENT AT DREAM IT YOURSELF?
It couldn’t be easier! You can now choose the appointment day and time that suits you best with our “Book an appointment” booking tool at the bottom left of the screen, or by clicking here.
DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR AN APPOINTMENT?
Appointments for fittings of our wedding dresses, our Infinity bridesmaid dresses and for the selection of our accessories (veils, shoes, special backless lingerie, hair accessories, earrings and necklaces…) are free of charge.
Whatever the nature of your appointment, we’d like to stress that there’s absolutely no obligation to buy when you visit our showroom. We are here to help you find the perfect outfit for your big day, in a pressure-free environment.
HOW MY APPOINTMENT IS GOING TO GO?
First of all, we will welcome you and your family. We will start the appointment with an exchange on your wishes, your budget and your inspirations. This will allow us to select your favourite dresses from our selection.
The fittings will allow you to project yourself in the style of dress you are looking for… to ideally find THE dress!
If you have a crush on a dress, when you are ready to confirm your choice, we will take your measurements. In this way, your dress can be created specifically for you!
WHAT SHOULD I BRING FOR THE FITTING?
We advise you to wear skin-colored underwear and seamless panties. We recommend that you wear little or no make-up if possible. If you wish, you can bring a pair of shoes similar to those you’ll be wearing on your wedding day. Especially if you plan to wear heels at your wedding.
WHO SHOULD I BRING WITH ME TO THE APPOINTMENT?
We recommend that you bring 4 or less people with you. Choosing your wedding dress is an important and emotional step. You should be here to enjoy the moment, as the focus should remain on you, the bride-to-be! That’s why we recommend that you bring along only the key people in your life, whose opinions you value.
Having the impressions of those you love is important, but having too many opinions is sometimes destabilizing. So it’s essential to come with people who will be able to think about you, your style and your desires, rather than projecting their own on you. You don’t have to come with someone, or you can also bring your partner if you wish. There are no rules in this matter – you do as you please!
WHAT IS THE COST OF A DRESS AT DREAM IT YOURSELF?
Our dresses range from $2000 to $63500 + tax. You must also budget for alterations. A minimum budget of $2,500 is therefore recommended. Whatever your budget, you will be treated with the same care and attention! We adapt to our brides and make sure to offer them a selection that corresponds to the price they wish to invest in their gown, without any value judgement.
Our prices are not set “at the customer’s whim” and are non-negotiable. We are completely transparent about the origin of our dresses, the designers and the materials used.
WHEN SHOULD I START SHOPPING FOR MY WEDDING DRESS?
We recommend that you shop for your wedding dress 8 to 12 months before the wedding date. That way, you will have plenty of time to choose your dress with peace of mind.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO CREATE THE WEDDING DRESS?
It takes between 4 and 6 months to create your dress, then 1 to 2 months for your alterations.
WHAT ARE THE SAMPLE SIZES IN STORE?
Our dresses for fittings mostly range from size 8 to 12. Most of our sample dresses are a size 10, as this allows us to adapt more easily to different silhouettes. We consider ourselves experts in pinning and stapling dresses, so don’t worry about the size of the dresses you try on. Your own dress will be made to fit your body-there are no size restrictions!
We also offer a selection of sample dresses ranging from size 16 to 22. Then, whatever your size, your dress will be made to your measurements and fit perfectly.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I SAY YES TO THE DRESS?
Once you’ve found the dress you’re looking for, we’ll take your measurements and order the dress in your size. A deposit of 80% will be required to validate your order. Finally, we’ll schedule your appointment with the seamstress according to the arrival date of your dress and the date of your wedding. If you still have questions at the end of your appointment, your consultant will be happy to answer them.
Thereafter, it will take approximately 4 to 6 months for your dress to be created by our designers.
At the time of your appointment with the seamstress, we work on the alterations needed to make your dress fit perfectly. This is the ideal time to ask any questions you may have, and to try on the accessories or shoes you plan to wear on your wedding day.
WHAT ABOUT ALTERATIONS?
We’re here to help you choose your wedding dress, every step of the way. If you’re lucky enough to choose with us, we’ll help you with the alterations.
During your appointment with the seamstress, we’ll define together the alterations to be made, answer any questions you may have about adjustments, and make sure you’re satisfied with your dress. Following this appointment, our seamstress will provide you with an estimate.
Our seamstresses are highly experienced in wedding dress alterations. However, you are free to choose another seamstress if you don’t wish to work with us.
HOW MUCH DO ALTERATIONS COST?
The cost of alterations is your responsibility. It varies from bride to bride, depending on her choice of dress and silhouette.
Contacting our seamstresses is a free service we offer all our brides. We take no commission on alterations billed by our seamstresses, to keep the cost as low as possible for you.
HOW TO GET TO YOUR SHOWROOM?
Paid parking is available nearby. However, keep in mind that we are located in Old Montreal and parking is difficult. Please allow time and budget for parking during your visit.
Dream It Yourself is also easily accessible by public transport. We are just a few minutes’ walk from the Place d’armes metro station.
WHAT PAYMENT OPTIONS ARE ACCEPTED?
We accept cash, debit and credit cards and Interac transfers.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO GET A REFUND OR CANCEL AN ORDER?
Once you have selected your dress, it is made to your measures. No refund or cancellation is possible, that’s why we give you time to think before making your choice!
