What to know before booking your appointment

Each gown is sold as is, with any alterations or cleaning to be arranged by the bride (we’re happy to recommend trusted external seamstresses).

  • Most styles are available in sizes 8 to 12, with select gowns in sizes 18 to 22.
  • Prices start at $400 + tax.
  • Availability is limited — one gown, one size.
  • If you fall in love, your gown can go home with you the very same day.

Before your visit, we kindly ask that you select up to 7 gowns you’d like to try on from our website — this helps our stylists prepare your fitting and ensure you make the most of your time with us.

01. How much time should you allow between saying “yes” to the dress and your wedding day?

We recommend an ideal timeline of 10 months between choosing your dress and your wedding date. Here’s why: 6 months for your gown to be made-to-order by the designer, 3 months to receive your dress, attend your fitting with our seamstress at DIY, complete the alterations in her atelier, and come back for your final try-on and pickup and 1 month before the wedding to keep things calm and stress-free.

In short: plan for around 10 months for a smooth and serene experience.
And if your timeline is shorter, reach out — some gowns may be available sooner!

02. WHAT SHOULD I BRING BEFORE TRYING ON DRESSES?

We recommend wearing nude-colored, seamless underwear, if possible, please come with little or no makeup to help keep our gowns pristine. You're also welcome to bring a pair of shoes similar to what you plan to wear on your wedding day - Especially if you 're considering heels

03. WHO CAN JOIN ME DURING MY APPOINTMENT?

We recommend bringing 4 guests or fewer. Choosing your wedding dress is a meaningful and emotional moment. You deserve to enjoy the experience fully — with the focus entirely on you, the bride-to-be! That’s why we suggest coming with the key people in your life whose opinions you truly value.

Hearing from loved ones can be helpful, but too many opinions can quickly become overwhelming. It’s important to be surrounded by people who will focus on you, your style, and your wishes — not project their own preferences onto you.

That said, you’re also more than welcome to come alone, or even with your partner if that feels right to you. There’s no rule — do what feels best for you.

04. WHAT BUDGET SHOULD YOU PLAN FOR A DRESS AT DREAM IT YOURSELF ?

Our gowns range from $2,000 to $6,500 + tax. In addition to the price of the dress, you should also plan for alteration costs. We recommend a minimum overall budget of $2,500.

No matter your budget, you will always be welcomed with the same care and kindness! We adapt to each of our brides and make sure to present a selection that fits the price they’re comfortable investing — with zero judgment.

Our prices are never adjusted based on who you are, and they are non-negotiable. We are fully transparent about the origin of our gowns, the designers behind them, and the fabrics used — so please don’t hesitate to ask us any questions during your appointment!

05. HOW DO I GET TO YOUR SHOWROOM?

There are paid parking spaces nearby. However, please keep in mind that we are located in Old Montreal, where parking can be limited. We recommend planning ahead and allowing time (and budget) for parking during your visit.

Dream It Yourself is also easily accessible by public transit — we’re just a few minutes’ walk from Place d’Armes metro station.
